For Men: Organizing Closets Step By Step
Earlier this week I drove around town searching for homes and the 1 thing a household must have is plenty of closet space. My husband begs to differ. He thinks that I just need to get better at closet organizing so I put him to the task. I told him that if he was able to organize my closets maybe we wouldn’t need to move. Heres the final result:
A. If you are married or living with a woman have her call a friend and go to a matinee. You need some time alone to move her clothes her shoes and everything she has put away inside that little cubby without taking time to reminisce. You know what I mean: Love do you remember I wore this black dress on our 3rd date? And you told me
B. Sort the clothes by type: dresses blouses slacks jeans suits sweaters blazers etc. Now count them. Thats right count. Since you wouldnt dare throw anything away you have to fit everything back inside but it has to be arranged better than it was. That means youll have to buy or build some closet organizers based on the number of clothes in each class. Dresses need space that reach from the closet bar to the flooring. Blouses sport coats and slacks can fit nicely on parallel bars. Sweaters tshirts and jeans are great folding items and go on shelves. Dont forget about the shelves for the shoes!
C. Have a cold one. Youve earned a break. Then vacuum the floor and continue.
D. Lock and load. Put the organizing scheme together in the closet and then replace all the clothes according to your design.
E. Stand back and admire your hard work. Dont be modest. Your lady will value this investment. Really she will.
F. Oops there are some clothes still sitting on the bed. Take some time to rethink your organizing strategy. Are all of these clothes really worn in this season? Think about taking the out of season items to another closet for storage. You can tackle that closet on some other day.
G. Theres time to spare. Head to the couch and watch the end of the football game so that you are relaxed and ready for the review when your mate arrives home.
This last step is not for amateurs.
